When we started playing pickleball, we quickly learned that finding an open court wasn’t always easy. This gave us an idea…what if we could play the game on the grass outside our office?
That idea quickly became an obsession and we began taking our new game (with modified pickleball rules) to the beach, parks, and around the neighborhood. What we learned is that pickleball is fun on any surface, we just needed to introduce the world to the modified rules for soft surfaces where the ball doesn’t bounce.
We named our new game “Sandy Pickle” because of all the surfaces, we liked our experiences at the beach best. We floated our idea out on Kickstarter, and that successful campaign later launched us out on an exciting new entrepreneurial adventure.
As residents of Utah, we don’t have a beach, and for much of the year we don’t even have grass (this year in fact we had more snow than ever). So what do you do when the weather throws you white lemons? You play Snowy Pickle!
